Untamed Beast Page 6
It didn’t seem to take long before the familiar feeling of his orgasm coming began. She must’ve known also because she lowered herself down on top of him, grabbing his wrists and pulling his arms up over his head just as he had done to her. He let her, closing his eyes and enjoying the feel of her whole body rubbing against his own. As she rubbed against him Katrina also moved her hips up and down hard, slamming herself down on him.
Tongue touching his chest, licking at a nipple, testing his control, which he lost. A nip to his chest and it was done. He roared, bucking under her. She bit him on the chest right before she felt her own climax tightening so hard around him she didn’t think she could move any longer.
The burning he had felt on her body didn’t feel so hot to the touch any longer. Her cycle was coming to an end, but it wasn’t quite over yet. He was still inside her, still hard, and he was struggling to get his breathing under control. Katrina sat back up on top of him and arched herself backward, eyes closed. It was a sight he knew he’d never forget as long as he lived.
“It’s still—still—still,” she panted.
“Yeah, I know.” He sat up, wrapped one arm around her waist and began to bounce her again. Continuing to move seemed to be what she needed from him.
With each hard slam down she cried out, holding onto his shoulders tightly, nails digging in. Thorn closed his eyes tight, mouth open, fighting to not come too fast this time. Her sweet scent was the most powerful thing he’d ever smelt. It hit a point of being so strong it had him worried it might toss him into an early heat.
Arching back himself, bracing his body with one arm back behind him on the ground, legs parted, feet planted on the ground, Thorn gave her everything he had left to give. With her downward motions he bucked hard upward. This seemed to be what she was looking for. Her cries rang out with each hard slap of their bodies together. And just like the other couple of times, it all came to a crashing end quickly. She screamed her release and he followed, dropping back to the ground hard, breathing even harder. His heart pounded in his chest, and she seemed to go limp on top of him.
How long they stayed like they were, he didn’t know. When he finally started to go down and his damn brain once more began to function, he was able to slip from her body. By then he noticed she was out cold on top of him.
With a sigh, very tired and worn out, Thorn carefully sat up and held her close to his body. She shivered but didn’t wake up. Grabbing the towel and wondering how the hell she didn’t seem to have a mark on her, he stood up, scooped her up in his arms and walked back to the cabin. As he walked, he picked up a different scent coming from her, one that he knew only because his mother had the same scent once a month as well. It also reminded him she was only half shifter and half human and the human part of her was coming back.
Back at the cabin, he took her right to the bed and put her down carefully. He went into the bathroom where he got some washcloths and towels to clean her up, then he’d take another shower. As he washed her, she never woke up. Taking the robe off her body, he washed every inch of her then put her in one of his shirts. Taking another quick shower and dressing himself, he left the cabin to head up to the other one for a few things she would need. Lucky for him his father didn’t seem to be around when he went into the cabin and got a few personal things from his mother’s room for Katrina to use.
Worn out didn’t even touch how he felt when he walked back into the cabin. Putting the things he got from the other house in the bathroom for her, Thorn collapsed on the sofa with a sigh. However, getting much needed sleep didn’t seem to want to last for him. Like usual, when the sun started to come up so did he. A couple hours of sleep was all he got and would be what he would get until he dropped after his heat next week.
Checking in on her, Katrina was still passed out. He left the cabin to meet up with his father at the lake for morning coffee. Something he started to do when he was younger. They didn’t really talk, just sat on a rock, watching the water, listening to the birds, waking up and enjoying the quiet company of each other. Right on cue, Kane was at the lake with a cup in his hand and another on the rock where Thorn always sat ever since he was a little boy.
“Didn’t sleep again, huh?” Kane stated.
“Something happened,” Thorn said, picking up the cup and sitting down, not looking at his father.
“Yeah,” Kane sighed, taking a sip. “Sort of figured something might.”
Chapter Five
Katrina slowly woke, rolled to her back and opened her eyes. For a split second she panicked, forgot where she was, and then it all came crashing down upon her. With a groan, she covered her face in embarrassment, even though she was alone for now. With another groan she rolled from the bed, didn’t even want to know how she came to be wearing one of Thorn’s T-shirts.
She took it off, threw it on the floor, and walked naked into the bathroom for a nice long hot shower. Each step she took reminded her of last night and had her raking her brain on how she was going to face him when Thorn came back from where ever it was he went.
The water stung her body, another thing which had her worrying slightly and frowning. Usually, after she had one of those sensitive nights she was fine. This wasn’t fine. It still felt like it was there, hovering to come out again and this wasn’t making any sense to her. Then again, nothing that has happened lately has made any damn sense.
After the shower, Katrina still felt a little odd, as if her body really wasn’t her own. Instead of getting fully dressed, thanks to her still sensitive body, she looked around for a clean one of Thorn’s large T-shirts and put that on. Nothing else covered her skin. So, barefoot, she left the bedroom and went to the small spot used for a kitchen and decided to fix up something to eat for herself and for Thorn. She had just finished fixing their meal when he came back.
Feeling very nervous suddenly around him, especially after what happened last night, she stiffened and slowly turned around with a skillet and spatula in hand.
“I, um, guess, I, oh,” she stuttered, biting her lip.
“Yeah, I sort of have the same feelings,” he stated. “What are you doing?”
“Cooking.”
“I can smell that. What?”
“Oh, um, steak and eggs. Didn’t know if you liked it, but it really sounded good to me. I’m starving.”
“Sounds good to me, too. Let me just go change.”
She nodded, and Thorn went to the back. She heard water turn on and gave a sigh. Damn, she shouldn’t be this nervous around him, but she couldn’t help herself. What had her wanting to kick her own ass was the fact she and Thorn have had sex a couple of times now, and yet she still felt like they were strangers.
“Duh, you are stupid,” she mumbled to herself, turning back to the stove and finishing up the food.
When he came back, Thorn had on a pair of shorts, T-shirt and no shoes. It looked like he had taken a quick shower cause he sure smelled good to her. He sat down at the small table while she put the food on the plates, then joined him.
“Hope you don’t mind,” she stated, tugging on the shirt. “My skin is still tingling and I didn’t want to put too much on right now.”
“No, it’s fine,” he said, glancing up at her quickly then digging into the food.
She watched him cut into the steak and start eating before she cut into her own. Instead of eating, she ended up dropping her fork. “Look, I’m sorry about last night. I did tell you to leave me alone.”
“I know.”
“So then why didn’t you?”
He stopped with his fork halfway up to his mouth and looked over it at her. “Because I couldn’t.”
“What?”
He sighed and rubbed his face as if agitated or something. “Look, something happened last night and neither one of us had any control over it. Why don’t we just try to forget it happened, okay?”
“You know that sounds like a great idea, only I got this feeling that you won’t forget it happened.” She
pushed away from the table fast. “You don’t just let anything go.”
“Fuck, why don’t we just have it out then,” he sighed, also getting up.
“If you had let me just go with my sister then none of this shit would have happened.”
“How the hell do you know that?” he snapped back.
“I know that because there isn’t anyone who would be around who would’ve tried to screw me!” she yelled.
“Oh honey, I didn’t try, I succeeded.”
“Argh!” she yelled. “I can’t do this. You’re going to drive me crazy.”
“What I don’t understand is what’s got you so damn pissed right now. Is it the fact that you had a cycle early, or just that I was the one here to service you?”
Her tempter got the better of her and Katrina swung wide, fast and hard. She slapped him right across the face. “Fuck you.”
She went too far. Katrina knew that the second her hand touched his face. With a low growl, Thorn grabbed her by the arms, turned her around and had her up against the wall. He pushed her up against it, holding her there and getting very close.
“I intend to make you understand right now. Slapping me will only get you into a whole lot of trouble.”
“You don’t scare me.”
He grinned and unable to control herself she shivered. “You should be scared, real scared. It’s just the two of us out here. Not even my father will hear you if you scream. So keep that in mind when you go on the attack again.”
“Get off!” She tried to twist out of his hold, but that only got her slammed up against the wall again.
“Another thing you need to keep in mind, little girl. I’m more than half animal, which means that when unexpected things such as a cycle…” he leaned in real close and took a deep breath at her throat. …“Happens, my animal is going to surface for the calling.” Closer he came, his body pressing up against her own. Hell, she could even feel him swell behind the shorts. “Even now I can smell it.”
Where she got the strength to push him aside and put some distance between them, she didn’t know. “Knock it off,” Katrina huffed. She almost gasped when she saw redness in his dark eyes. “And you can stop the eye shit also. I’m not going to let you scare me and I sure as hell am not going to fuck you again.”
One eyebrow went up as he stared back at her. “All I have to do is bend you over that sofa and you’re all mine.” He took a deep breath, eyes fluttered closed for a moment. “Even now I can smell it rising.” Eyes opened, darker, more red in them. “It’s not over yet. Strange.”
“Don’t threaten me, Thorn.”
The corner of his lip curled up, “Oh, this isn’t a threat.” Again, he took a deep breath, as if he might be unable to control himself. “Fuck if you don’t smell good.” Katrina took a step back. “Run, I dare you.”
“Are you out of your damn mind?” she huffed.
“I must be, because at this moment that thought won’t leave my mind. Hell, I’m starting to even hunger for it and I don’t hunger for anyone.” She made to move again and he growled. “You run and I will bring you down. You challenge and I’ll take.”
Katrina frowned at him. “What?” she barely got the question out.
“You heard me,” he took a step forward.
“Knock it off!” she yelled again. “This isn’t funny.”
“You’re right, this isn’t funny and it isn’t a game anymore. This is animal instinct, pure and simple.”
He lunged and she dodged. Somehow, Katrina managed to grab the pan from the stove and hit Thorn hard on the head. He went down and she ran out the front door, almost tripped down the steps and just kept right on running.
She didn’t even look back to see if by some chance Thorn might be chasing after her. When she saw the main house, she started yelling for Kane. By the time she reached the front porch he came out.
“What’s going on?” Kane demanded.
“Thorn,” Katrina panted, struggling to catch her breath. Kane grabbed hold of her before she dropped to the ground.
“What about him? What’s wrong?” he frowned.
Katrina shook her head, “I—I don’t know. He—he’s acting strange. Like, like, he’s out of his mind. I—I think he was about to attack me.”
Kane looked behind her, from where she came and helped her back up to her feet. “Come on. Let’s get you inside and then I’ll go deal with him.”
He helped her into the house and just when she sat down, Thorn came barging into the house by the backdoor. And sure enough he had a mad look in his eyes.
Katrina cried out and moved behind Kane as Thorn came in. “Thorn,” Kane said his name with a slight warning tone.
“Don’t get in the way,” Thorn snarled.
“He’s out of his fucking mind!” she yelled from behind Kane.
“Oh, I’m going to show you out of my mind when I get my hands on you!” Thorn yelled back. He made a lunge for her, only to have Kane stop him.
Kane had his arms around Thorn and it looked as if he was struggling to hold him. “Go upstairs!” he yelled at her.
She didn’t have to be told twice. Katrina turned and raced up the stairs as fast as she could. The first door she came to she went inside, slammed the door and locked it.”
She jumped and backed away from the door when she heard things breaking, loud growls, swearing and maybe if she wasn’t mistaken something very hard hitting a wall or floor. This went on for a few minutes, then everything went quiet.
Katrina held her breath, waiting, fearing that any moment Thorn might come up the stairs, kick the door in and do lord only knows what to her. Seconds felt like hours and when a knock did come to the door, she jumped and covered her mouth with both hands.
“Katrina, open the door.” It was Kane.
She moved slowly, went to the door and unlocked it, then opened it. Kane stood there alone, his shirt ripped. She could only stare at him with wide eyes. He looked down at himself and shrugged.
“Happens at times with us all. Come on, follow me.” He turned and went down the hall instead of back down stairs. Into another room they
“Where is he?” she asked as she sat down on the edge of the bed.
“I got him down in the basement chained for now. He needs to cool off.”
“What’s wrong with him?”
“You.” He turned and in his hand he had a syringe. “Give me your arm.”
“Why? What is that?”
“You’re in an early cycle,” he said. “This is a shot to stop it, which will also help settle him down.”
“Huh?”
Kane rolled his eyes and took her arm, sticking her. She jumped. “Let’s see if I can explain this better. Shifter females have what is called a cycle. They go into a needing period where they mate with us and if we all get lucky then she gets pregnant.” That had her gut dropping. He pulled the syringe out and held her arm with a cotton ball. “This happens I think forty-eight hours before we go into heat. Half-breeds, which is what you are, are unpredictable. Never know if or when you will have your cycle.”
“I have that feeling every month, before my period, in case you want to ask,” she told him with as much detachment as she could muster up.
“Well, my sister has one every so often, and for the most part her mate can handle it. There are a few times when he can’t and she comes here for a shot.”
“What kind of shot?”
“The kind that stops this shit. Your cycle sort of pushed him into a rabid heat. No control, as if we have much of that when we are in heat. In other words, this shot will stop it, and in the morning, he will be his old fun loving self once again. But for now, I’ve got him chained until he calms down. You’re damn lucky you got out when you did. He could’ve hurt you.” He let go of her arm. “You might get a bit sleepy, which is normal. Lie down and rest. I’ll check on you in a bit.”
“Are you trying to say that I’m going to sleep the rest of the day away because of this shot
?”
“No, you’re going to sleep most of the day away because your body is all fucked up. Once he is back to normal, you two can go back to the cabin again. The shot lasts for a month, so you shouldn’t have another episode.”
“Really? I find that hard to believe.”
“Well let me just put it this way. If he does decide to attack you, it won’t be the animal, it’ll be the man.” Kane stood still and so did she when they heard a loud howl from below. “This is going to be a long ass day, I just know it.”
She did fall asleep, but for how long she didn’t know. Slowly, Katrina opened her eyes, turned her head towards the window and saw the sun was starting to go down. Taking a deep breath, feeling a bit like herself again, she sat up and then screamed. Hunched in the corner was Thorn and he was watching her.
“What are you doing here?” she demanded, looking around for some way of getting the hell away.
“Watching you,” he said.
“Why?” Carefully she swung her legs over the side of the bed afraid that if she made any sudden movements he might jump on her or something.
“I’m trying to figure out what it is about you.” She frowned and he rose up. Her mouth went dry at the sight of him still in nothing more than those shorts. His body screamed of power, strength and sex, three things that she wanted to run from the most. “Why is it that my animal wants to conquer you?”
“What is it you want, Thorn?” She tried to keep her voice even and sound like she wasn’t scared of him. But deep down, this calm Thorn scared the living hell out of her. She couldn’t read him, for one, so trying to figure out what he might do had her on edge.
“I think it’s time for me to fulfill a small promise I made to myself, after that first time we met.” His hands going to the front of his shorts, he pulled the string, which was holding them at his waist.
“What promise?” She could barely speak as he pulled that string and those shorts went down his legs to the floor, leaving him in nothing more than his bare skin.
“The one where you were going to be under me at my mercy.” She gasped at the statement. “I’ve thought about it for hours now, as you’ve been sleeping, and think it’s time for that payback.”
