Her head came up, eyes wide open, and the color slowly started to slip from her beautiful face. The hand holding her towel to her breast tightened, and her knuckles turned white. The move she made didn’t surprise him. Dannie bolted to the door and Logan was right on it. He managed to catch her just as she started to open it. He slammed the door closed, and left his hand on it over her head.

“Were you going out in only a towel?” he asked low in her ear. “You do realize that you’re in a town full of animals, right?”

“What do you want?” she asked in a low voice.

Logan saw her tremble and felt bad. He knew she had to be scared of him because of what he did. Taking hold of her arm, he turned her around. Reaching up she put her hands in front of her face and flinched. Then she looked away as if waiting for him to hurt her again.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said, touching the side of her face. Gently, he moved his fingers down to her throat and touched the bruises. “God, I’m sorry I did this.”

“I’ll live,” she snapped and pushed his hand away, but she wouldn’t look up at him.

Logan took hold of her hand and pulled her away from the door. “I got you a few things. Hope they fit.” He pulled her back over to the bed and sat down, placing her between his legs.

He reached next to him and held up one pair of the lace panties for her. Instantly, her face turned red. Logan bent enough to hold them down by her feet. Glancing up he waited for her to step into them. Slowly she did, and just as slowly, he slid them up her legs. When he got to the point of going under the towel, she moved back.

“I can do this,” she stated, sounding a bit out of breath.

“I know, but I want to do this.” He kept eye contact with her as he finished putting them in place. Unable to help it he also moved his hands over the curve of her ass and smiled. “I guessed right. They fit perfectly. Now for the next.”

He showed her the top and she paled again, shaking her head and backing away again. “You’re not dressing me.

Logan stood up, the top still in his hand. He moved forward as she backed away, all the way to the far wall, until she couldn’t go any further. “Turn around.” He saw her shake but surprised him by turning around. “Raise your arms up.”

Dannie glanced over her shoulder at him for a second then slowly put her arms up in the air. Logan stayed behind her and brought the top up. Through the thin straps her arms went, then down. When it reached the top of the towel, he reached around her and pulled the knot. He saw her close her eyes and her cheeks were getting red again. It didn’t stop him. The towel dropped and he finished sliding the top down. It covered all the way to her waist, snug and perfect.

“I got you a brush and a dryer for your hair also.” Logan took her hand again and led her back to the bed. He sat down and pulled her to join him.

“Why are you doing this?” she asked.

“Because I want to.” He picked up the brush and was about to start brushing her hair when she bent forward. He sighed and pulled her back by her arm. “Got to have something to do. The moon is coming and I feel strange.”

He starting brushing and she turned her head slightly. “What do you mean?”

“I mean that I’m not going into heat this month it seems. Something about the drugs has left things dormant so to speak.”

“I thought the drugs were out of your system.”

“They are, but the beast inside is still sleeping.”

  “I don’t understand.”

He stopped brushing and turned her around to face him. Reaching up again, Logan touched the bruises on her throat. “You don’t know how bad I feel about this. Not being in control sucks. Control is something we learn at a very young age so that we don’t attack like this.”

She pushed his hand away and got back up, putting space between them—space that he didn’t like. She started to fidget and that made him grin.

“What’s going to happen to my sister?” she asked.

  “I don’t know. She’s Thorn’s responsibility.”

“What’s that mean?” She sighed with a hint of irritation in her voice. “What does all of this mean? Why are you kidnapping us?”

“Why did your mother kidnap Stray and I?”

She glared at him. “You know the answer to that question, just like you know that we have nothing to do with it, either.”

“Okay then.” He also stood up and closed the space between them. “Then why did you go down on me when I was tied to that bed?”

Her face turned bright red. “Could we please not talk about that?”

“What would you like to talk about?” he asked as he moved closer and she instantly backed up. Logan followed until he had backed her up against the wall. He boxed her in with his hands flat against the wall next to her shoulders. Instead of answering him, she pushed his arm away and started to walk but Logan didn’t let her. He grabbed her arm, stopping her. “Why are you running from me?”

“Because you scare me.” She jerked free, backing away. “I don’t want you to attack me again.”

  “I’m not going to.”

“I don’t know that. You don’t know that.”

Logan sighed, ran one hand through his hair, and thought about how he could explain himself better. Nothing really came to mind. “Dannie, I’m in control. I promise you.”

The frustration began to show on her face. She ran both hands over her face and into her long still wet hair. “Please just let us go.”

  “Can’t do that.”

“Why? Is it because of this Thorn guy? What’s he want with Katrina?”

“I don’t know, but I think it has something to do with when he was taken by your mother.” She stilled, staring at him with a slightly lost expression on her face. “What did she do to him?” Logan just looked at her and offered no reply.

Dannie’s eyes lowered and she shook her head. “Not possible,” she mumbled.

“What’s not possible?” Logan frowned. She might have spoken low and to herself, but he still heard it.

Her eyes came up to him, then she bolted so fast he didn’t react fast enough. Dannie bolted right out the door and ran towards the other small cabin. Logan went after her but didn’t reach her before she went inside. When he reached the cabin, Dannie was inside on the bed with her sister.

“It is him!” she gasped low, taking hold of Katrina by the shoulders. “I told you it’s him and now I know for sure it is.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Katrina asked her.

“Him!” Dannie hissed again. “The one that Mother gave to you. He’s this Thorn guy. The one coming for you now.”

Logan didn’t move from the doorway, he just stayed there, watched and listened. From the way Katrina’s face paled, he knew that something happened when Thorn was there. Something that Thorn didn’t want to come out, and by the looks on her face, she didn’t either.

  “Not possible,” Katrina whispered.

“What happened?” Logan finally asked, getting both of their attentions. “What did she do to him?”

“When will he be here?” Katrina asked.

“Tomorrow night. After the full moon,” Logan answered her. “What happened?”

Katrina shook her head at him. “You don’t need to know. What you need to do is let me go. Right now.”

Logan shook his head and came into the room. He went up to the bed and picked Dannie up. “No. Thorn wants you for a reason and without his help, I’m sure I’d still be in that damn cage, being fucked raw for your mother. Thorn wants you, then you’re his.”

Dannie started to kick and twist in his arms. “Put me down!”

Katrina also came off the bed and tried to come at him, but with the chain around her ankle, she couldn’t reach him. He was already at the door. “You don’t understand. He’ll kill me!”

Logan stopped in the doorway and looked back at her as he struggled to keep hold of Dannie. “No he won’t. But you might wish you were dea
d when he finishes with you.”

Logan closed the door and looked up to see Justice jogging toward him. Dannie still fought in his arms. “Stop it,” he ordered. “What’s up?” he asked Justice when he got close.

  “Stray just woke up.”

  “Good. How’s he feeling?”

“You mean how’s he acting,” Justice huffed from the jog. “He woke up, got dressed, and just left.”

“What do you mean just left?” Logan asked.

  “Let me go!” Dannie groaned.

“Just what I said,” Justice answered. “What’s up with her?”

“Lock the damn door to her sister’s room, please,” Logan ordered, then sighed. “She went in there and had a small talk with her. Seems that the sister and Thorn might know each other.”

“Bet she fucked him like the others,” Justice snorted. Dannie stiffened in Logan’s arms.

Logan put her down and turned Dannie so she could see him face to face, holding onto her arms tight. “Is that what happened? Did your sister rape him?”

  “Let me go!”

He didn’t see the kick come until it landed on his shin. “Shit!” Logan snapped, hopping on one leg, his grip on her gone. Dannie turned and ran, passing Justice. “Thanks,” Logan said as he smarted off to Justice.

“Not my responsibility,” Justice stated with his hands up in the air.

Logan went after her, and thankfully, with her being barefooted, she didn’t get too far before he caught her. His arms went around her waist and he plucked her off her feet, pinning her arms to her sides and holding her tight against his bare chest.

“Did you forget that you have no damn shoes on? Hell, you don’t even have that much clothing on.”

“Please let me go,” she begged.

“Start singing another tune, Dannie,” he said as he swung her up and over his shoulder, capping the move off with a hard slap to her ass, which stilled her. “This one is starting to get old.” Logan walked back up to Justice who was snickering. “Okay, back to Stray. He just left?”

“Nice snag,” Justice said with a grin, his eyes dancing between Logan’s face and Dannie’s curvaceous ass. A dirty glare from Logan and Justice stopped smiling—and stopped staring. He cleared his throat. “Um, yeah. Didn’t say anything—just walked out of the RV.”

Logan thought about it for a moment then shook his head. “Shit. I forgot about that,” he said to himself.

  “Forgot what?”

“Right before we were taken. Your brother and Thorn came up on us, but right before that Stray and I sort of split for some time. When I found him, he had the scent of just mating. I bet you anything he went in search of this girl he found in the woods.”

“Hell of a time to go hunting,” Justice stated.

“Not when a full moon is on our asses.” Logan looked up at the night sky. Soon the full moon would be out, and soon he should be in heat. But it wasn’t there this time. No burning, no need was building up in him. “What are you going to do for it?”

Justice also looked up. “I’ll go into the woods for the night. Think the threat of mating is not around here. You know all the females have been taken to safe houses by now.” He met Logan’s eyes. “Besides, I think I know who I want to mate with.”

“Yeah, we’re going to have to talk about that. Do you even know what you’re getting yourself into with her?”

“Um, excuse me,” Dannie said. “But will you please put me down!” she finished with a yell.

He delivered a smart slap to her ass again. “Ah—no,” Logan answered her. “We’ll talk later,” he said to Justice.

  Justice nodded. “After the moon.”

  “Be safe,” Logan said.

Justice smiled. “Think I should be saying that to you. The quiet ones like her are always the most dangerous.”

Logan chuckled, turned and still holding Dannie over his shoulder, walked back to the cabin. “Now what am I going to do about you?”

“God, I can’t believe this is happening to us,” she groaned, wriggling to escape his hold on her.

“It’s not so bad,” he stated, stopping in the doorway where he put her back down on her feet. “Could be worse.” She put her fists on her hips and glared up at him. “I could be in heat and fucking the hell out of you right now,” he added. He turned her around and swatted her ass, encouraging her to move inside. “Instead, we get to try to get to know each other a bit better.”

“Why would I want to do that?”

“Because I’m sure that next month I’ll be in heat, baby,” he said and smiled, closing the door behind him. “And without a doubt that ass of yours will be mine.”

  Chapter Six

Dannie woke up, confused and in a slight panic. Sitting up in bed, she looked around trying to get her bearings. Once she figured out where she was, she ran a hand over her face and took a deep breath. When she had finally fallen asleep, she didn’t know. What she did know was that she was very tired but didn’t feel safe enough to really sleep like she needed. How she did fall asleep had her confused once more.

She started to scoot off the bed only to stop when she spotted Logan standing in front of the window. The moonlight shone inside and cascaded around his body. It made him look all silvery.

Her mouth went dry and she suddenly had a strange, nervous feeling being in the same room with Logan. There was something about him that screamed at her to run away as fast as she could. She started again to scoot from the bed. This time her movement had him also moving. His head turned slightly in her direction.

“Why are you awake?” he asked.

Dannie couldn’t help it and started to shake. His voice sounded strange—deeper—darker. The fear she felt last time he acted funny was back and she couldn’t stop herself from reaching up to her throat.

“I can smell your fear.” He sighed loudly, head going back on his shoulders. “You’re afraid of me again.” He looked at her and she gasped. His eyes were dark red.

Dannie couldn’t control the fear any longer. She jumped up from the bed and made a run for the door. He also moved, faster than she’d ever seen a man move, and he blocked the door and grabbed her at the same time. Strong arms wrapped around her body, holding her close. The heat that came off him had her wondering and fearing again that he might be sick.

“I know what you fear,” he purred, touching her face. “It’s only part of my heat.”

“But—but, you said you weren’t going to have it,” she stuttered when she tried to speak. She shoved her hands against his chest in an effort to escape, but he held her tightly.

“I can feel some of it,” he said, running the back of his hand over her cheek. “I see everything right now in red. The burn isn’t there, but the need is starting to come. Are my eyes red?” She nodded yes. “Does it scare you?”

  “Yes,” she whispered.

He closed his eyes and sniffed slowly. There was a low rumble vibrating in his chest. “I can smell it you know.”

  “Smell—smell what?”

His eyes opened and she gasped. First thought that came to mind—dangerous!

The hand that had been touching her face slid back and held her head still. His face lowered and Dannie held her breath, waiting for his next move. She wasn’t expecting him to touch her lips with his own. Right before they touched, she panicked again and turned her face away. He stilled.

“You act like you’re scared of being kissed,” he said.

  “I’ve never been kissed.”

He smiled. “Good. I like that, and I really like how another male hasn’t touched you, either. I can smell it.”

  “Smell what?”

Instead of answering her, his face lowered the rest of the way and his lips touched her. A light brush at first, then some pressure followed by a small touch from the tip of his tongue. That small touch had her pushing back, looking up at him with her eyes wide open. She reached up and touched her lips.

“Why did you do that?” she breath
ed out.

Logan smiled. “You really haven’t been kissed before, have you?”

She shook her head, unable to speak. Again, his lips touched hers this time differently, firmer.

“Open for me,” he said against her lips. She did and his tongue went into her mouth. Logan moaned.

Dannie, however, jumped and again tried to pull away from him. His hold only tightened more and became so tight that he was starting to hurt her. Unable to break the hold or the kiss she did the only thing she could think to do. She bit his lip.

Logan pulled back with a hiss, hand up to his mouth. “You bit me!”

With his arm no longer holding her, Dannie put distance between them, keeping both eyes locked on him in case he might make another move toward her. “You were hurting me. Why do you have to hold me so tight?”

He licked his lips and looked back at her. “You know I bite back.” Dannie couldn’t help it and took another step back. “I also love a good chase...feeds the blood.” He took one step toward her. “You going to run, Dannie?”

“You’re scaring me now,” she said.

The statement seemed to snap him out of what was affecting him this way—for a brief moment. Logan took a deep breath and rubbed his face with both hands, then looked around the room.

  “I’m sorry,” he said.

  “What is wrong with you?”

He took another deep breath and looked back at her. The eyes were still red. “It’s the animal in me. I feel like it wants to come out but can’t.”

“You know I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” she said through her teeth, feeling frustrated about him saying the same thing over and over again.

“Argh!” Logan dropped to his knees, hands fisted in his hair.

Dannie freaked out and dashed for the door. Jerking it open she was outside, running away as fast as she could.

  “Dannie!” Logan yelled.

Twigs and rocks cut into her bare feet as she ran, but the fear of what he might do kept her going. Dannie knew that he was behind her. She could hear him chasing after her. That knowledge helped to push the burn in her side away and helped to keep her running.
